  • Light: Place in bright to medium indirect light, but avoid prolonged direct sunlight. The amount of light affects the color of the leaves, with more light resulting in red/maroon leaves and less light resulting in deeper green leaves.

  • Water: Water when the top 2–3 inches of soil feels dry. Overwatering can cause root rot, so make sure the pot has drainage holes. Bottom watering can help keep water off the leaves.

  • Temperature: Keep in temperatures between 65°F and 85°F (18°C to 29°C) and avoid cold drafts.

  • Humidity: Philodendrons prefer high humidity (50–60%) but can tolerate average household humidity. You can increase humidity by misting the leaves, using a humidifier, or placing the plant on a pebble tray filled with water.

  • Soil: Use a peat-based, well-draining potting mix rich in organic matter. You can also mix 1 part potting soil, 1 part orchid bark, 1 part perlite, and 1 part peat moss or coco coir.
